Uniform Change

Summer is long over meaning that the fall and winter uniforms are in order. This means that we should not see spring and summer uniforms on the students. We change these uniforms so the students are not too cold to learn, do school work, play at recess and gym, and also so they can do sports like baseball, lacrrose, softball, basketball, etc. So starting now all students must have their fall and winter uniforms on! This is very important, you don't want to get sick and be out of clubs and any fun activities coming out becuase you didn't wear appropriate clothes! Thank You.

Geography Club

Since the students showed a lot of intrest in geography, Adden Macon has started a geography club. We meet on Wednesday mornings before school (7:30 to 8:00). "Ge Og Raphy" is our club mascot and enjoys interacting with the members! At our first meeting, we saw pictures of Earth from Space. The picture showed a sandstorm off the coast of Africa and how night comes across the continents. Such an awesome sight! We will continue learning and discussing the Earth's geography.

Young Author Winners

Congratulations to three of our John D. Eason Academy students: Maia An(7th grade), Quinn MacDonald (8th grade), and Jayden Gersom (6th grade). Their writings will be published, along with other state winners, in a keepsake book. All three of our John D. Eason winners will attend a local reception in May at the Northeast Library. They will receive a bound copy of all the New Hanover County Young Authors' writings.

Meet the Student President

Meet Shawn Kingston
Student Government President
Why did you want to become Student President?
So that I could make a difference in the school, from more money for Orchestra to more money for AIG. I think that more students should get involved in Student Government because it does make a difference in the school.
What do you do as Student President?
I make up ideas for the school, go to Student Government meetings and talk with other students on Student Government, I draw signs for fundraisers that go on, and I talk and tell news on the Eason News that are shown every Friday!
What is your favorite subject and why?
My favorite subject is Social Studies, I like to learn about countries in Europe and Asia and also about the times in History. we are learning about World War 2 right now which is really intresting. Wars are terrible, needed, and interesting to learn about!
What hobbies do you like?
I love to read history books including war biographies, play X-Box 360 games, hang out with my friends, play with my two labs, and explore science with kits!

Making a Cause

John D. Eason Academy has donated 9,800 dollars to Relay for Life so far this year. We hope to exceed 2009's 50,000 dollar mark. we appreciate everyone's support for this community event. Don't forget Relay for Life is Friday, February 25th with opening ceremony at Ashley University at 6:00 p.m. The Luminaries will be lit at 9:00 P.M. The KIDS WALK will be Saturday, February 26th at 10:00 a.m. Come out for the big walk and praticipate in fun and games for the kids. Eason Academy Wizards have had the most praticipants 2 years in a row! Thank You!

From the Principal

Some parents and students have requested a change in the uniforms or for uniforms to be removed from our school. Just to let parents and studetns know, we are not going to get rid of the uniforms for they keep the bullying rate down and also lets us control how the students dress. Some students without uniforms would wear short shorts, flip flops, and tank tops which is not appropriate for school or any place for that matter.

Thank You,

John D. Eason
